Written by Denise Agati

The Child Nutrition Program is a Financially Independent Department of the Ithaca City School District.

The Food Service Program offers Parent/Guardians the opportunity to participate in a “prepay” debit system for their child’s meal and ala carte purchases at all schools. It’s the responsibility of Parents/Guardians to monitor the balance on the accounts for their children. Parent/Guardians may contact a School Food Service Supervisor to receive a current balance, and/or Account History Report on their child’s meal account. If an account gets very low or is overdrawn, the following is the action which will be taken:

IF CURRENT BALANCE IS:

$5.00 OR LESS
CASHIER REMINDS STUDENT TO BRING IN MONEY
-1¢ OR LESS
NO ALA CARTE PURCHASES ALLOWED, ONLY MEALS. PARENT/GUARDIAN WILL RECEIVE NIGHTLY AUTOMATED TELEPHONE CALLS UNTIL DEPOSIT IS MADE AND POSTED TO ACCOUNT.

$-10.00
STUDENT ACCOUNT DEACTIVATED.
IN ACCORDANCE WITH FEDERAL PUBLIC LAW 108-265, DATED 6/30/04,
WE CAN'T ALLOW ANY ADULT CHARGES
IF PARENT/GUARDIAN CONTINUES TO FAIL TO PROVIDE FOR THEIR CHILD, FURTHER ACTION WILL BE TAKEN INCLUDING CONSULTATION WITH SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER, BUILDING PRINCIPAL.
