Your child's emotional health can affect their performance in school, their ability to make friends, and interfere with relationships. The Ithaca City School District is offering free screening for all school-aged children as a commitment to their emotional well-being. For more information, visit our Emotional Well-Being wepage.

Simple but IMPORTANT steps to stop the spread of disease:

  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing and sneezing. Throw out the tissue in the nearest waste basket and wash your hands.
  • If you don't have a tissue, don't cough or sneeze into your hand. Instead, cough or sneeze into the crook of your arm so you won't get germs on your hands and spread them to others.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water. When hand washing is not possible, use antiseptic hand gels that contain alcohol.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Keep your children home when they are sick. (call the school to inform them)

With the concern about seasonal flu, this is the perfect time to learn important habits that reduce the spread of germs. The ICSD will continue to provide information you will need to best protect yourself, family and the entire community.
